HALF-WAY PARLIAMENTARIANS (A translated abstract)

Two years have passed since we voted for our representatives. That should be enough time for us to confront the work of eight members of parliament and two senators from our constituency: the promises they made in return for our votes and what they have managed to achieve. We shall leave the evaluation of their work to our readers.

We shall start with the woman who is our parliamentary representative - Barbara Marianowska. Supported by His Excellency Mr. Lech Kaczynski, the President of the Republic of Poland, who expounded upon her professionalism, integrity and individuality, Marianowska stood as an Independant candidate. Notwithstanding the President's recommendation, she received 6,291 votes. This is an exceptional success for someone who, during the elections, did not live, nor continues to live, in our constituency.

Curriculum Vitae
Barbara Marianowska was born in Diddington, England. Her parents were soldiers in the Polish Armed Forces in the east. After her arrival in Poland, she lived in Tarnow, Karwodrza and Tuchow. She then moved to Krakow, where she presently lives and where she completed her middle school education. She holds a master's degree in economics, which she completed at the Acedemy of Economics in Krakow. Marianowska is married with two sons.

In 1980, she became a member of NSZZ Solidarity. During the Cold War, she worked for the underground weekly publication "Lesser Poland" in Krakow.
